Dear Gary,

It is my passion to help EFT practitioners get started and develop expansive practices.

Here is an idea from my "Professional workshop leaders course" that has worked brilliantly for me. This idea works because it uses the old premise, 'You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours". You can use it to promote an event or just to promote your practice.

You should have some EFT experience under your belt before doing this. Here is what you do.

Go to your local bookstore (I went to Hastings) and ask for the book manager. This should be the person who has a vested interest in selling books and someone with authority to make a decision. Do not waste your time on presenting a sales clerk with this idea.

Ask the book manager if you can make a display table of books about alternative healing. This is a very hot topic right now. tell him (or her) that you will do all the work.

All you ask in return is that you put your flyer for your event OR your practice on the table as well. Since there are not that many books on EFT, you will have to go to the alternative health or self help section and get books on various alternative health topics. You can ask them to order books on EFT for the display and they will.

Do this at least two weeks before your event. If you are just promoting your practice, then you can do it any time.

You might tell the manager that you would be willing to give demonstrations of one of the greatest new healing techniques of all time and he will set it up for you. You can demonstrate the 'EFT breathing demo" as seen on Gary's Steps Toward Becoming The Ultimate Therapist DVD set.

You will want to go into the store every day or so to freshen the display and make sure there are plenty of flyers.

Spend a couple bucks on one of those plastic stands so the flyers are standing upright and visible. Use colorful paper. Studies have shown that bright yellow grabs the most attention. Hastings even let me place my photograph on the table as well.

This works, I  have done it.

Now, I have several of my own books under my belt ... but I did this before I had written one sentence. Yes, I had an event at Hastings bookstore and you can do it too.

Remember, you are doing the bookstore a Huge favor.

You are helping them sell books!

If you feel timid at this prospect, here are some set ups for you.

Even though I think they might laugh at me, I deeply love and accept myself.

Even though I don't have big enough balls to pull such a stunt...

Even though Rebecca did it, I'm afraid I can't...

Bring in a positive 'choice'

I chose to allow my confidence to grow.

I know my stuff.

I want to share my talents etc.

Now if you really want to knock their socks off, (and if you are slim) make a display with books on weight loss and offer your services or talk about your event.

Specific topics sell...forget about trying to reach everybody.

The bookstore is your treasure trove of topics to direct EFT toward, this provides you an automatic Target market. You can do EFT for anything! Isn't that great?

Just remember, have your skills in place before doing this.

You could even put your whole presentation in writing and practice it with a friend before hand.

You will be surprised how quickly the manager will jump on this.

When I first asked a book manager about it, she grabbed a shopping cart and said let's go! She told some workers to bring a table, table cloth and we were set up within minutes.

Just think, what if someone came into your business and offered to help you sell? Wouldn't you be thrilled!

I have done this more than once and they were always delighted to help.

One time, the store special ordered a bunch of books for me to display. They just send back the ones they don't sell so it is no skin off their backs.

Go for it, the world needs more EFT!

Now my practice spans all 6 continents, I teach workshops and seminars and I am so booked I cannot take any new clients. But if I did want to promote myself locally, I would look no further than my friendly neighborhood bookstore.
