Barbara shares an insightful way to find core issues

Alert: This is one of 3,000 EFT Tapping articles that were written by users like you but before 2010. As such they are outdated and some of the links don't work. Nonetheless, they provide an excellent Peek at the Possibilities and show you the wide reach of even our older methods. See TRAINING for our free and near-free advanced methods.

Hi Everyone,

You will find much wisdom in this article that helps even a newcomer locate important core issues.

Hugs, Gary

By Barbara L.

Hi Gary,

I have been reading the manual and the newsletters for a while now, maybe a year, and have tried to apply EFT to my physical and emotional issues, but could never get it to ‘work’.  I couldn’t afford the DVDs so I was studying on my own as I could.  I read the articles about why it doesn’t work, and reversals and all that, and I could intellectualize it but I was still blocked.

Meanwhile, I did some tapping with my 10 year old granddaughter, and she seemed to get some benefit.  We used the ending phrase, I’m still an awesome kid, which I had seen used in one of the articles.  I have recently used EFT with her very successfully in regards to her feelings about her mother’s recurrence of active alcoholism.

However, what I am writing to tell you about is a technique I intuitively devised and did for me.  I have only run across one instance in the articles where someone did something similar.  I had known that most of my core issues probably came from my childhood, and feeling that I had the ‘Invisible Child’ archetype as my inner child.  So, I found a photo of me at five years old and I focused on what I, at five, was feeling.

So many things came to me, and since I like to write and journal, I started writing.  I filled up 6 pages with set up phrases such as:

Even though nobody notices me, I’m still an awesome kid

Even though they don’t care what I think, I’m still an awesome kid.

These were simple statements, in five-year-old language.  I then tapped on these, AS MY FIVE YEAR OLD SELF.  Not as an adult looking at it, or remembering it, I WAS that child.  I moved it into phrases such as

Even though I know they love me and can’t tell me…

Even though they don’t see my light, it shines anyway…

I don’t have to be like my mother because I am an awesome kid.

The emotional release was immediate and intense.

I now intend to move on to my ‘older’ self, through all the awkward and ugly stages, through high school and wherever it takes me.  I am 59 and it may take awhile, but I have seen improvement in my outlook and attitudes about myself.  I am un-learning the ideas I had about myself, with the guidance of my mature self, my child self can heal with EFT.

I shared this process with a friend and she is also working through traumatic events in her childhood, which she had buried and dismissed as ‘just the way things were.’  She also is finding cathartic releases of old memories, and insights as to who she is today.

I am no expert on EFT, but I just wanted to share something that was powerful for me.  I hope that others will try this approach, and find a shortcut to the core issues that stop them from realizing success.

Thank you for all you do, I see EFT everywhere now.  I think that one day, it will be such a part of everyone’s daily life; it will be like brushing our teeth.  Doing our tapping before going to bed!

Love to all,

Barbara, Sacramento
