Dr. Barr used EFT after cutting off the tip of his thumb

Hi Everyone,

Dr. Timothy Barr used EFT for his anxiety and panic over this accident and experienced rapid healing to boot. He says, "One month later, it was impossible to tell there was an injury without very close inspection. Perhaps it would have healed as well without EFT, though I doubt it - even the nurses commented on how little it bled and the follow up doctor commented on how remarkably well it was healing." Please consult physicians on all medical issues.

Hugs, Gary

By Timothy Barr D.C.

I have been using EFT for a couple of years for both my own personal peace and with my clients and had many wonderful results. The repetitive practice came in handy recently when I was chopping carrots and cut the end of my thumb off. It happened so suddenly and then I remember looking at my thumb and seeing the muscle and bone. I said; "Oh that's not good" and for a moment I was aware of a choice; I could allow myself to become overwhelmed by the physical expression of pain and bleeding or I could do EFT. I was beginning to get vagal and so I began EFT, at the EB point Even though I feel faint and my thumb is bleeding... (and talking to myself as a nurturing parent might).... it's going to be ok... look there it really doesn't hurt that much..

I felt immediately better <4 on anxiety, 0 on panic on a scale of 0 to 10>, no longer faint, and there was very little bleeding or pain. I sat down and continued to tap, this time starting at the sore spot and using a more standardized set up phrase; Even though I am angry at myself for doing such a stupid thing... Even though I can't believe I just cut my thumb off... Even though I'm worried I might have some disability because of this... Even though I'm worried about infection...

I tapped on the EFT spots with all the little scary thoughts that come to mind. Tapping helped me become so sanguine <0 - fear of disability/ 6-worry about cost of er> about the whole thing that I unwisely considered simply super-gluing it back on and skipping the doctor's office altogether. Cooler minds prevailed at this point as my clear headed wife ushered me to the car and then to the ER. As I waited to get stitched up I tapped frequently about the anxiety of anticipating pain from the process. The pain was minimal and the whole process went smoothly.

One month later, it was impossible to tell there was an injury without very close inspection. Perhaps it would have healed as well without EFT, though I doubt it - even the nurses commented on how little it bled and the follow up doctor commented on how remarkably well it was healing- but regardless of any scepticism on that issue EFT made all the difference in my experience of the event for the better. I am grateful that I knew it well enough to have it available at such a moment of crisis. Thanks Gary for a wonderful technique.
