Thoughts on using EFT for procrastination

Alert: This is one of 3,000 EFT Tapping articles that were written by users like you but before 2010. As such they are outdated and some of the links don't work. Nonetheless, they provide an excellent Peek at the Possibilities and show you the wide reach of even our older methods. See TRAINING for our free and near-free advanced methods.

Hi Everyone,

AnaMaria Herrera explores the use of EFT for this common problem.

Do you procrastinate but don’t know why you put off important tasks that need or should get done? Most of us postpone at one time or another but what can be frustrating is not knowing why we are procrastinating and worse still, what to do about it. In this article I crack “The Procrastination Code” and share some ideas of how to use EFT to move you forward to take action every time.

Do any of these sound familiar?

You want to finish a project you started, but suddenly feel compelled to clean the bathroom and find yourself scrubbing the tub instead. You have sales or business calls to make but as you reach for the phone you hear a too familiar voice in your head,  “… it’s Monday (or Tuesday, or Thursday or Friday) and everyone knows that’s the worst day to call anyone… I’ll do it tomorrow.” But ‘tomorrow’ never comes! You know you should reach out for help from a professional to help you in a certain area, but put off making the call or sending the email to inquire about their services.

Even if we don’t know the reason why we are procrastinating, we can use EFT to reveal the associations with the given task or project that we are sensing will be painful or uncomfortable or unsafe.

And then as you completely address the fears, doubt or past experiences that arise, you’ll neutralize the charge and settle them down so you can feel calm, grounded and even excited to do the task at hand.

Sound too good to be true? Well, let’s put EFT to the test. Pick out a task project or maybe a conversation you’ve been putting off and use one or all of the step statements below. (Right now for me, it’s sending an email to a virtual assistant to dialog about working together.)

As always, be as specific as you can with the details in the setup phrase. For brevity’s sake, I’m not including reminder phrases. But when you do the setups below, include reminder phrases for each.

Even though I keep putting off finishing (blank) and I feel really frustrated with myself, I accept myself and even this habit of procrastination.

Even though a part of me wants to complete / finish / approach this (blank) there’s another part of me that’s holding me back ... so I’ve decided to accept both parts.

Even though I don’t know WHY I am procrastinating with (blank) because I know it will feel great when it’s complete, I accept myself completely and open to discover why I’m procrastinating.

Try several rounds once or twice a day, and tap on any other issues, memories or feelings or body sensations that arise.

GC COMMENT: It would also be helpful to address specific events in your life that underlie the hesitancy to perform a certain task. I find this usually gets to the core faster.
