Hi Gary,
The other day, and for the first time since I've been on the planet, I had a migraine headache. What's really interesting is that I am a registered nurse and had absolutely no idea what was happening. Â It never dawned on me that what I was experiencing was an "aura", a phenomenon common to this malady.
It started in the afternoon at work, when for no apparent reason I lost the central vision in my right eye.  In all my panic, I left work and immediately called my ophthalmologist, who fit me in right away. On the way to see the MD, I started to develop other visual disturbances in the right eye that vanished after about 10 minutes.
When I arrived at the doctor's office about 15 minutes later, that's when the headache started.  It was so fiercely pounding in my left temple that it became difficult to even open my left eye. Then I thought, wait a minute, I have a tool at my disposal here so let's see what happens. I tapped on:
Even though I have this severe pain in my left temple...
Even though I have this severe anxiety...
I even did a few rounds on blood pressure because at that point I had whipped myself into a frenzy, and knew it was elevated. The pain diminished from a 15 on a scale of 0 to 10, to about 7 out of 10. Then I eliminated the setup phrase all together and started doing rapid fire EFT.  I continued to focus on the pain, anxiety, and blood pressure on successive rounds and after about 10 minutes, guess what? NO HEADACHE.
That's when the doctor came in, examined my eyes and informed me I'd just had an ocular migraine.  Since he is a conventional medicine doctor, he didn't want to hear about the fact that the headache was gone. I was absolutely amazed at how this worked in such short order. At the time it was happening there was no way I could have thought about any possibility of an emotional driver behind the migraine and found that tapping on the pain, and other issues in the moment, was sufficient to remedy this excruciating headache.
GC COMMENT: We don't always have to search for emotional drivers. Sometimes, as in this case, simply aiming EFT at the physical problem does the job. However, when the pain does not subside satisfactorily, it is often useful to search for emotional drivers.
