Hi Everyone,

You will enjoy this simple idea from David MacKay of Mexico.

Hugs, Gary

By David MacKay

Here's a tip for international travelers and anyone who wants to modify an old habit.  I've lived in Mexico for 22 years and I guess I had gotten used to my stomach being a little unsettled. Recently I was in Boston for a week and my stomach settled down. When I returned to Mexico, my stomach was unsettled again.  Thinking about this, I came to the conclusion that my stomach was unsettled because I have the habit of rinsing with tap water after brushing my teeth and decided it would be a good idea to stop.

Well, the way we brush our teeth probably qualifies as one of our most deeply entrenched habits, and as my wife will attest I tend to be somewhat absent-minded at the best of times.  A couple of weeks after proposing to change my habit, and getting annoyed with myself for the umpteenth time, a light came on as I was driving to work and I started tapping:

Even though I'm so absent-minded I can't remember not to rinse my mouth with tap water after brushing…

I did several rounds until I felt it sink in, and lo and behold, every time I pick up my toothbrush I remember: Don’t rinse with tap water.  Now my stomach loves me.

Love all 'round, David MacKay
