EFT helps Elaine learn the clarinet at 50

Hi Everyone,

Is it ever too late to do what you've always wanted to do? Not so for Elaine Nitz. After her experience with EFT and her clarinet lessons she says, "I can safely say that if it hadn't been for EFT, I likely would have given up learning the clarinet months ago. Instead, I've been having a great time with it."

Hugs, Gary

By Elaine Nitz

Ever since I was in grade school, I have wanted to learn to play the clarinet. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to then, but I'm in my early 50s now, and I finally decided it was time to learn. I bought a clarinet and signed up for clarinet lessons at my local music store.

I purchased the music book when I went in to sign up for lessons, so I was able to do some practicing before my first lesson. However, I was pretty nervous before I met with my tutor, and on a scale of 0-10, I was at a 9. EFT to the rescue!

Even though I'm too old to be learning how to play a musical instrument…

Even though it will be too hard to learn how to play the clarinet…

Even though kids learn musical instruments so much faster than people my age, and I'm afraid my tutor will think I'm crazy for trying to learn now…

Top of Head: I'm too old to be learning to play a musical instrument.

EB: I feel foolish learning at my age.

SE: It will take me too long to learn.

UE: I don't know if I'll be able to remember all the new stuff I'll have to learn.

UN: I don't think I can do it.

CH: My tutor might think I'm crazy for trying to learn now.

CB: People might laugh at me.

UA: I might not be able to do it.

BN: It might be too hard.

Top of Head: I choose to be patient with myself.

EB: I choose to learn at a pace that is comfortable for me. I don't have to learn it all in one day.

SE: I choose to be OK with making mistakes. I'm just learning.

UE: It's OK for me to make mistakes. It's a natural part of the learning process. I've never played a musical instrument before.

UN: I choose to be calm and relaxed about playing.

CH: I choose to be patient with myself. I'm not supposed to sound like Benny Goodman (a famous clarinet player from the Big Band era) when I first start playing.

CB: I choose to let learning to play the clarinet be fun.

UA: I choose to be relaxed while I'm learning.

UN: I choose to let learning be fun and easy.

My first lesson was a lot of fun, and I went through it with flying colors. My tutor is a music teacher at a local middle school, and she looks like she's nearly the same age as her students. She's a great tutor and is always very encouraging. I look forward to my lessons.

After taking music lessons for a year, she says I'm now at the 8th grade level! (I believe kids normally start learning to play in the 6th grade.)

Sometimes when I'm practicing, I have difficulty with the note combinations and I start to get frustrated. It's a very simple process to tap for a little while on my frustration, and after a couple of rounds of EFT, I'm much more relaxed and playing much better. I've even used EFT for resistance to practicing. Works like a charm.

GC COMMENT: If you look at the list of tapping phrases above, you can find pointers to many SPECIFIC EVENTS that could serve as core issues. Using EFT on these is likely to accelerate progress.

I can safely say that if it hadn't been for EFT, I likely would have given up learning the clarinet months ago. Instead, I've been having a great time with it.
