Hi Gary,

I’ve suffered from motion sickness all my life. I don’t have a problem with it if I’m driving, but as a passenger, I was unable to sit in the back seat of a car or at the back of the bus without feeling ill. Even if I sat up front, I still had to look out the window the whole time the vehicle was in motion. I could never read. I live in an urban area and work downtown where parking is expensive so I mostly ride my bicycle to work and avoid the bus whenever possible.

A couple of months ago, I sprained my ankle so I had to take the bus to and from work for several days. While waiting for the bus that first morning, I realized that I could tap on my motion sickness issue, so I tapped just a few rounds of whatever came to mind.

“Even though I get motion sickness when I take the bus…” “Even though all my life I’ve had motion sickness…” “Even though I can’t read on the bus like everyone else…” “Even though I get horribly nauseated when I take the 33…”

When the bus came after about ten minutes, lo and behold, I rode it without feeling nauseated. Not only that, but I was able to read a newspaper.

The bus that goes directly to my house takes a winding route so I always preferred the bus that took a straighter route and stopped a half a mile from my house. Now I can take the bus that drops me off close to my house and I can read the whole way.

I spent a lifetime being miserable in vehicles and after less than ten minutes of tapping the problem cleared up. Not all problems are so easily tapped away in my experience, but I thought this one, given its long-standing nature (54 years!) would take a lot more effort. I’ll continue to ride my bicycle whenever possible (just for the exercise), but it’s wonderful to have the choice to ride the bus when the weather is cold and rainy.
