A few times in my life, I've experienced fainting spells that always seemed beyond my control. They would hit unexpectedly in a highly charged medical atmosphere - beginning more than thirty years ago when I took my tiny two year old daughter into a hospital to have her tonsils removed. When these spells happened, they would begin with nausea and weakness, a buzzing in my head, all sounds around me get fainter and I feel as if I'm slowly spinning downward. I may retain a tiny bit of consciousness but cannot see, control my body nor speak. I have always felt weak and disoriented for the rest of the day after one of these incidents. The baffling thing is that they happen in circumstances that I normally handle perfectly well and they happen many years apart.
The most recent episode happened recently when I took my cat Panda to the vet. Panda had a badly infected toe that I discovered upon returning home after a weekend away. The vet cleaned the infection out and Panda was remarkably quiet during this procedure. The vet said the whole claw bed had rotted away, and he would not grow another claw in that toe but it looked like the toe itself would be saved.  I felt thankful that he wouldn't have to have that toe amputated!  In fact I was already laughing inside because the vet said that she would give me some antibiotics to give the cat, and I know only too well what a circus it becomes, trying to give this normally placid cat a pill!
Inexplicably, I suddenly felt the awful nausea that precedes a fainting spell, coming over me.  I put my head down and the vet kindly said she used to feel the same when she first started operating on animals. She guided me off the stool on which I had been sitting and got me to sit on the floor, then left to get a glass of water for me. All through this, her voice was receding, my vision was going black, and the buzzing got louder and louder. She sounded like she was hundreds of feet away.
As soon as she left I had one thought: "TAP!"  I couldn't even move or even feel my arm but I thought "TAP!" again. I finally managed to get my hand up enough to rub on the sore spot. Amazingly, as soon as I started to rub, I could feel the fainting spell start to recede.  I kept rubbing and within seconds I was able to begin tapping on the standard tapping points, including all the hand ones.  I never said anything, I wasn't even capable of forming a coherent thought but I kept tapping anyway. By the time the vet returned, I was fully conscious again - she had been gone less than two minutes!  I kept tapping until I was able to stand up. I did feel somewhat weak but I was able to collect Panda and the antibiotics, pay the bill and get into my car.  At that point I stopped long enough to assess myself to make sure I was safe to drive - not only was I fully conscious, but the weakness had already subsided completely!  Although I experienced some vulnerability around having nearly fainted, which left quickly with a few rounds of EFT, physically I felt completely fine.  There was no lingering weakness or disorientation.
I was SO impressed with this. Â EFT has proved itself in so many situations, for myself as well as for hundreds of clients, but here it worked even when I couldn't think straight, couldn't speak and was barely conscious! Â Thanks once again, Gary! Â
PS: Panda made a complete recovery and has happily resumed his hunting duties.
