Hi Everyone,
Now here's an interesting angle from Ann McKinley about using EFT on inanimate objects. Whether or not EFT was responsible for her opening her stuck garage door, she was able to convert the circumstances to discover some of her own issues. Very clever.

Dear Gary,
The use of EFT on inanimate objects is one of those hard to believe areas but after my experience I may have determined why it sometimes works. I had a garage door opener that would consistently get stuck with the door half open. This was getting very frustrating for me but it did not seem to bother my husband or son. I started reflecting on this.
Why was it bothering me so much? My car was in the garage and the sticking garage door was making it difficult to move my car out. Hmmm - stuck, not being able to move, not being able to move my car to get me going places.
This was starting to sound like my life at the moment. I was feeling stuck in my business, not being able to move out and do what I needed to do to promote myself. I was holding myself back and the garage door was not only mirroring that feeling back to me but was helping me to physically be stuck where I was.
This led me to start tapping on feeling stuck in my life. For about 8 minutes, I worked on anything and everything I could think of about feeling stuck, using "Even though" statements such as:
Even though I am frustrated at not moving…
Even though I don't want to move…
Even though I am not being able to move or accomplish anything… and forgive myself for feeling this way.
I worked on each of the above statements in turn, saying the statements 3 times while tapping the KC point. Then I tapped the EFT shortcut points using the appropriate reminder phrase such as "frustrated at not moving", "I don't want to move", "I'm not able to move", "I can't accomplish anything."
Then I tried the garage door again and you guessed it, it worked. It continued working for the rest of the family and me for several days before it got stuck again. Then my husband jumped in there and tweaked the opener and door to prevent the sticking before I could EFT it again.
GC COMMENT: Broad issues such as "being stuck" usually have many causes and those causes often reduce down to unresolved Specific Events in one's life. Resolve the underlying Specific Events and the larger issue tends to fade. A good tool to use for this is The EFT Personal Peace Procedure. See also Uncovering Specific Events - An Essential Concept Within the EFT Tapping Process.
What is going on here? My belief is that much of what happens around us and to us is a reflection of our emotional or energetic life. Our negative energy hardens and takes physical form. Often it is in the form of illness or pain but sometimes appliances and machinery that affect our everyday life will accommodate our run-amuck (pun intended) emotions.
By analyzing the problems we are having, in the light of our overall life, we can often see similarities and can come up with emotional issues that need to be addressed.
For people who have used surrogate tapping to get computers working, cars started or toilets unplugged may I suggest that just like the therapist who personally benefits when she taps along with a client, by surrogate tapping for an inanimate object you are also working on yourself.
