Mair Llewellyn of the UK brings to our attention some creative uses for Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) devices. These inexpensive items monitor people's emotional responses and provide useful validation for EFT. Electrical or mechanical devices such as these often provide difficult-to-deny proof for newcomers and skeptics. They can be ordered over the internet.

I really wanted to share with you how useful a Galvanic Response Metre (and other bio-feedback machines) are in just a few cases when using EFT. I thought it may be helpful for other therapists too.
Here are just three examples of how or when I use these machines. BTW, I don't sell them and they are not very expensive either :-)
Example one:
My experience is that these machines can be helpful when a family group comes to visit me together. It breaks the ice if a child is having a problem and I put Dad on the machine and whilst we are all talking the child and I discover from the machine that Dad is anxious about his golf. EFT can be introduced to them all very subtly this way - Dad likes it too because his game improves!
Example two:
When an older child is disconnected from their emotions, I give that child/teenager a few moments to play with the machine whilst I go out of the room. When I return and the monitor goes up I say to them that this response is normal. This comment brings an opening for discussion and then they frequently volunteer that when they thought of this teacher or of that experience or memory the monitor went up. We now have some ready made issues to use EFT on.
Example three:
I possibly only use these machines with around five per cent of my clients. However, I would often use this method of bio feedback with a skeptical client. I love working with skeptics! This is the client who says, "How can this EFT possibly work? My consultant says I genuinely have a physical problem with my heart rate. That's why my beta blockers help me". I ask them to just watch the machine whilst they talk to me and to see what happens when they tune into a disturbing memory or feeling - seeing the effect of this on the monitor is far more convincing than any words I use. I've discovered that when they do this they are more than ready to try EFT.
These three examples give a very natural opportunity to discuss the disruption in their bodies energy system. They have already seen it happening and have also begun to talk about it and when I say to them that tapping or switching off their alarm system by doing EFT will help these suggestions land so much more readily in their mind. Or you, Gary, would probably say that I am now making a connection with the writing on the walls of their minds.
