When should you consult an EFT Practitioner?

Alert: This is one of 3,000 EFT Tapping articles that were written by users like you but before 2010. As such they are outdated and some of the links don't work. Nonetheless, they provide an excellent Peek at the Possibilities and show you the wide reach of even our older methods. See TRAINING for our free and near-free advanced methods.

Hi Everyone,

EFT Master Pat Carrington, PhD gives us 7 possibilities where consulting an experienced EFT Practitioner would be useful. Her article is full of useful tips for professionals and lay persons alike.

Surprisingly few people know what to expect from consulting an EFT practitioner or when it is advisable to consult one.  Here are several suggestions to help with this.

There are several major reasons why people tend to seek an EFT practitioner and a number of other minor ones.

Reason 1.

Scenario: You have used EFT successfully in the past and addressed several or many issues with it, and you know that the method works for you.  Now you have an issue for which EFT doesn’t seem to work.  You have made little progress with this issue despite diligently doing the tapping and so decide to seek guidance from an EFT Practitioner at this point.

This is an excellent reason for seeking a practitioner.  You have already seen good results from using EFT and the chances are high that you can clear your problem using the fresh perspective and targeted challenges that an experienced practitioner should be able to give.

Reason #2

Scenario:  You have never used EFT, do not know how the method works, and you have decided to learn it under the guidance of an EFT practitioner, so you seek out a practitioner.

This is not necessarily an appropriate reason for making use of an EFT practitioner.  There are excellent courses and materials that teach basic EFT.  Level 1 EFT courses and other workshops teach you the basics, and of even convenience for many people, there are top-notch videotaped training sessions that get you started using EFT immediately.

If you download Gary Craig's free EFT manual, which contains wonderful basic information about EFT, you can readily supplement this, in fact I highly recommend that you do so, by viewing his beginner’s “EFT Course.”  The very best way to learn a technique of this sort is by watching someone who is expert in it using the method.

If you prefer not to start with Gary’s lengthy series but view them later on, my own "Introduction to EFT" videos teach all the basics of EFT in its short form in less than one hour, and the second tape is a thorough demonstration of its use.  The Short Form of EFT is now used not only by myself and many other EFT Masters and therapists worldwide, but most of the time is used by Gary Craig himself.

I would suggest therefore that you first learn EFT by using some of the excellent home resources now available (adding to the basics Gary’s advanced DVDs teaching the refinements of the method if you want to master the technique) and that when you have done that, you THEN consult an EFT practitioner if you still need one.

Reason #3.

Scenario: You or a member of your family or a friend suffer from a physical or emotional condition for which you want to use EFT as a healing modality.  You decide to find an EFT practitioner who specializes in this type of condition.

This is an excellent reason for seeking an EFT Practitioner and you will be likely to do much better with treating the condition if you get professional guidance in applying EFT to it.  I advise you, however, to make sure that the practitioner(s) you contact for this purpose are especially experienced at working with your particular condition and have had real success treating it with EFT.  Finding out about their track record is an important consideration that I will address in more detail in a future article where I will suggest some questions that you may want to ask a practitioner you are considering for this or any other purpose.

Reason #4.

Scenario:  You have tried EFT repeatedly but it just hasn’t worked for any of your issues.  You try reading Gary Craig’s basic EFT Manual and view demos (on DVDs or in person) showing just how EFT can best be conducted and the kind of results you can expect – you may even have tried tapping along with these demos (using Gary’s Borrowing Benefits technique) but to no avail.  You then decide to find an EFT Practitioner in the hope that THEY can make EFT work for you.

The fact is that working with a Practitioner may or may not help you under these conditions.  I have found that if a person has thoroughly exposed themselves to EFT, say by using Gary's tapes, and has gotten absolutely no positive response from using it, that it is unlikely that working with a, EFT Practitioner is going to be of much help.  I have found that, for reasons we do not know, about 3% of people do not respond to EFT no matter how hard they try, and may not respond to any other self-help technique either.  If you are one of these the likelihood of your getting substantial help from an EFT practitioner is quite low.  However, there are exceptions to every rule, and if you’re willing to invest a little time, effort and money in EFT consultations, working with an EFT Practitioner just MIGHT pay off.

GC COMMENT: In my experience, many of those who get nowhere with EFT on their own are too global in their approach. Often, if they reduce their issues down to specific events, the process will work fine. For more info see When it doesn't work.....???

Reason # 5.

Scenario: You are a health care practitioner and want to use EFT even more effectively with your clients or patients than you are already doing.  You decide to consult an EFT Practitioner who is more experienced at using this method for the type of people you work with than you yourself are.

This is an excellent reason for consulting an EFT Practitioner but one which is far under-utilized in my opinion.  Expert practitioners such as EFT Masters or specialists in the use of EFT for certain conditions are invaluable resources that are all too often overlooked.

If this description applies to you, I suggest you contact an EFT Practitioner who specializes in your particular area and see whether they would be interested in supervising your EFT work.  I believe that the answer will be a resounding YES!

Reason #6:

Scenario:  You want to use EFT for another person or animal, but you don’t know exactly how to go about this.  You need to find out how to introduce EFT to the other person, whether to tap along with them, tap on them, or tap surrogately, what wording to use for the other person or animal etc.  This is easily learned and many EFT Practitioners can be of great help to you in this regard. I strongly urge you to consider this option where it is appropriate.

Reason #7.

Scenario:  You have decided that you want to enhance your performance in an area of specialty – whether this be an athletic endeavor, public speaking, musical performance, acting, writing, or some other area where performance levels are a major issue.  You have not experienced as much success using it by yourself for this purpose as you would like so you decide to consult an EFT Practitioner who is experienced in working with performance enhancement.

This can be an important decision.  It is difficult to be objective about your own performance anxieties or blocks to achievement and although you can improve quite a bit using EFT on your own for performance blocks, an experienced EFT therapist or coach can be invaluable in moving you to higher levels and I highly recommend that you use an EFT Practitioner for this purpose.

There are other good reasons why you may want to seek the help of an EFT practitioner, but these are the ones that are most common.  Do any of them apply to you?
